Riggs Manor Green House

The scope of work included two standalone Green Houses, each designed to house 10 elders in a residential setting, in contrast to the traditional institutional setting. The design incorporates single bedrooms with private baths, focused around a large, centrally located social/cooking/dining area or “hearth” room. The design of the hearth room is open, yet intimate and warm, to encourage participation by the elders. The design incorporates opportunities for gardening, cooking, social activities and even pets.
