McCarty Architects provides a full range of architectural, planning and interior design services for a wide range of clients. We built our reputation doing design work in the healthcare, senior living, and education sectors, but also have extensive experience with automotive and faith-based organizations, as well as a range of other commercial and civic projects.
Our approach is tailored to our clients and their needs.
Our team of expert designers begin each project by listening to our clients’ needs and desires. We use this information along with our history of experience crate a unique design. When necessary, we partner with national and international specialists. Throughout thousands of projects—from hospitals and conference centers to car dealerships and student housing—we have proven our ability to create high-performing designs in response to diverse client demands.

McCarty Architects was founded in 1983 in Tupelo, Mississippi, by Buddy McCarty, who was soon joined by his brother, Richard. In the early years, the firm built its reputation as a premier architectural design team in the healthcare and senior living industry but has since expanded into a broad range of markets. Today, McCarty Architects is led by Kurt Shettles and Justin Harrington.
As our firm has grown, the scope of our work has expanded but our core mission has remained the same: designing well-functioning spaces where people can live, work, learn, and heal.
